Our Synod
From the moderator
Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for visiting the web site of the Bible Presbyterian Church, and especially this page dedicated to the gathering of the 74th General Synod on August 5-10, 2010. It is my privilege and challenge to “introduce” you to our Synod in these few words.
The Bible Presbyterian Church strives to exhibit and rejoice in a living, warm-hearted Calvinism. We are Presbyterian and confessional, affirming the Westminster Standards to be a good summary of Scripture teaching and acting accordingly in matters of ordination and polity. The Scriptures provide our only “rule of faith and practice,” so we love the exegetical preaching of “the whole counsel of God” that proclaims the finished work of Jesus’ blood sacrifice on the cross. Having received mercy and experienced the love of Christ in our own hearts, we are compelled by the love of Christ to be zealous for doing the companion works of biblical, worldwide evangelism and biblical, restorative discipline. Finally, we are committed to the principle of Sola Scriptura in every aspect of life in the church, home, and society. Because this is so, we oppose and speak out against wickedness in government and society, apostasy in churches and men, and rebellion against God wherever it appears, while seeking a biblical ecumenicity with all visible branches of the Christian Church that endeavor to remain faithful to the Word of God, but especially to other Reformed churches and ministries.
These things, and so much more, are the Bible Presbyterian Church, General Synod. Come and share this vision and joyous service with us!
The Rev. Dr. Leonard W. Pine Moderator, 73rd General Synod
74th BPC General Synod - 2010
Meeting at the Grace Bible Presbyterian Church in Sharonville, Ohio, August 5-10, 2010, the 74th General Synod of the Bible Presbyterian Church anticipates conducting its business and guiding its fellowship under the theme of “Let Brotherly Love Continue,” from Hebrews 13:1. All of the messages will take as their starting point various verses from Hebrews 13, exploring what it means to actively love one another in the Lord, and to love brethren beyond our immediate circles as well.
BP Synods are structured around business sessions, worship services, and thematic exegetical preaching. This year’s docket includes such theme-oriented topics as:
- “Love the Stranger”
- “Love the Prisoner”
- “Love Your Mate: Staying Faithful to Your Vows No Matter What”
- “Love Those Who Rule Over You”
- “Love the Unchanging Savior”
- “Love True Doctrine”
- “Love the Hope”
- “Bearing His Reproach: What It Means to Live ‘Outside the Camp’”
- “Love to Praise”
Our services are open to visitors, and we invite you to attend. For information on registering for the Synod, or just to see the docketed schedule, please visit the BPC’s web site at www.bpc.org. Many thanks to Rev. Miessler and the church family at Grace BPC for their work!
