The Bible Presbyterian Church has maintained a synod-sponsored internet presence and domain since 1996. Although it is a relatively small denomination, the men of the synod recognized the value of internet exposure and the benefit this communication medium could be to others. Beginning as an online directory for our churches as well as making our constitution available to others, we were unsure which direction to take with this new medium. The web site began to achieve greater diversity when a few synod men began to place articles and books on our available webspace. A fuller expression of the site's usefullness
was realized during an informal discussion when the website manager suggested what was to become The Shorter Catechism Project. Dr. Edwin Elliott, of the Christian Observer gave the final push, and the Project was born.
Along with our unique online Shorter Catechism Project the Bible Presbyterian Church website has developed as a valuable resource for those interested in our synod, it's history, churches, and current business. Statistically, we currently maintain in excess of 1000 pages on our website while serving an average of approximately 11,000 Kb of data (represented by 850-1000 individual pages served per day) via 1,400 file requests daily to an audience of nearly 17,000 distinct visitors.
The website is maintained by a website manager as a labor of love. While he has received a small gift from the BP Synod for the past two years, he does not receive remuneration for his labors. Since the website's inception in 1996 there have been private offers of help, and the website manager has decided to make such an opportunity more available. Personal gifts will be used for computer hardware and software upgrades so as to keep pace with the ever-changing world of computer and internet technology. Additionally, requests for the BPC-Online website on CD-ROM, as well as a need to provide a powerful on-site search engine feature, along with other technical issues necessitate an active plan for the website's future.
Gifts to the synod will be used to upgrade our internet hosting services to an account which will give us more features
for this rapidly developing site. The current synod budget for both website and website manager is $650 per year. Although this represents a very reasonable cost for the services currently provided, additional contributions are solicited to achieve a higher level of service to our online visitors.
If the Lord places this ministry on your heart as a worthwhile project, your gifts will be gratefully received and used for the honour and glory of the Lord Jesus Christ and the gospel of His saving grace.

Assistance for
the Westminster Shorter Catechism Project
If you have a commentary on the Westminster Shorter Catechism Project, and would like to make it available on our website to other students of sound doctrine, please email the website manager with details. Let us know if you would like to scan it or keyboard it yourself, or if you would like to make the book available for loan or a donation to the project. If you are aware of a book that would be useful (even if you don't own a copy), let us know of authors and/or titles that we should be watching for. We prefer books that are older than 75 years so that we don't have to worry about copyright restrictions. We are currently working on Alexander Whyte's comments on the Catechism. A major project that we would like to tackle is Thomas Boston's two volume work on the Catechism.
Most of the commentaries online have been proof-read, but occasionally mistakes are missed. If you notice misspelled words, please notify the website manager.
