Memorial Resolution 70:8

Elder Anthony Moeser

Ruling Elder Anthony Moeser was born in Buffalo in 1939. He was a 1980 graduate of Erie Community College and worked for the Nussbaumer and Clark engineering firm for 20 years. Tony married Lois (Smith) on September 1, 1962. He served in the Army for two years at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. After the service, Tony and Lois made their home in the town of Aurora and have lived there for 37 years.

He was a charter member and the first elder at Armor Bible Presbyterian Church, where he ministered for 30 years. For many years he served on the board of Presbytery Missionary Union and Fundamental Presbyterian Publications, approved agencies of the Bible Presbyterian Church. He was very active in the Great Lakes Presbytery. Lois and Tony were longtime volunteers with International Students. Inc., a national Christian organization that locally assists internationals attending the University of Buffalo and Buffalo State College. He was heavily involved in the oversight of the Springville, New York, church plant and often engaged in various missionary enterprises.

After working for ten years with his brother-in-law at Smith's Lawn and Marine in Clarence, he began working as an assistant to the Town of Amherst Engineer for 13 years, retiring in December 2000. He was an active member of Amherst Safe Intersections and after retirement was appointed to the Erie County Traffic Safety Board.

As a talented pen-and-ink artist, Tony was enjoying developing his artistic skills in his retirement. He loved working with young people, helping them develop their skills. Tony taught drawing and sketching at the Hamburg Christian Academy and to other area students. Tony was the current president of the Centennial Art Center (C.A.C.) in Hamburg, and had the privilege of helping judge the first Hamburg and Frontier School districts’ Student Art Show in 2004. He helped promote the C.A.C. and was influential in organizing and teaching at a Kid's Art Camp in 2005. Tony is survived by his wife of 43 years (Lois), two daughters, one son, and ten beloved grandchildren.
