Resolution 80:01: The Mandate of god’s word

The Church of Christ is called to be salt and light in the world. If society does not hear the truth concerning God, man, sin, and salvation from its mouth, it is failing in its duty to the Lord and to mankind.

“Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour. I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God. Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?”` Isaiah 43:10-13

Our God commands us to be a voice.

Our faith moves us to be a voice.

Our love of God and mankind compels us to be a voice.

As we witness the cultural decline of the west, the rise of false religions, sinful moral perversity, the erosion of freedom, and the distortion of justice; we are bound to expose and oppose evil. We are bound to preach and exalt righteousness.

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34

As a part of the body of Christ, the Bible Presbyterian Church seeks to fulfill these duties by speaking out and declaring that the law of God, contained in the Bible, is both good and just, and that His Gospel, the message of salvation through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, is the only remedy for sin.

The sort of love that moves Christians to warn mankind about the destructive and wicked nature of sin and the beauty and blessing of faith in the living God and His Gospel is not always understood and is often misinterpreted, but this does not absolve us of either our duty or our responsibility to serve our society in this way.
