Bible Presbyterian Church
Resolution 66:18

On the Gender-Neutral Today’s New International Version

Whereas the Bible is “the Word of God and our only infallible rule of faith and practice,” and

Whereas it is the only means by which God reveals our duty to Him and His grace in salvation to us, it ought not to be tampered with in any way, but rather the most accurate translation possible must be given to man, and

Whereas the International Bible Society and Zondervan Publishing House have “now given us a gender-neutral revision of the New International Version called Today’s New International Version (TNIV), and

Whereas this new TNIV, in order to be politically correct and to appeal to the feminist and anti-patriarchal movements has perverted in many places the Word of God,

Let it be resolved that we, the 66th General Synod of the Bible Presbyterian Church, meeting in Lakeland, FL, August 1-6, 2002, do hereby condemn and abhor the TNIV as a perversion of the pure Word of God; and we further call upon all God fearing men everywhere to condemn and resist Today’s New International Version.
